Dr. Darren Heiner, OD

Dr. Darren Heiner is originally from Star Valley, Wyoming.  Upon completion of high school, he served a 2 year service mission for his Church in Taiwan where he spoke Mandarin Chinese. After getting home from his service mission, he attended Brigham Young University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science. Upon completion of his bachelor’s degree, he and his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where Dr. Heiner pursued his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry.  During his last year of optometry school, he completed externships in Denver, CO, and Orem, UT.  He graduated in 2012.

After receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree, Dr. Heiner pursued more education by completing a residency at the Veteran's Affairs Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2013 where he received specialty training in the treatment and co-management of ocular diseases, particularly glaucoma and diabetes.

Dr. Heiner and his family were thrilled to locate to Caldwell, Idaho in 2013 where they immediately felt at home.  Dr. Heiner has worked in Caldwell since then, and opened his own practice, Vision Specialists of Idaho, in 2021.

Dr. Heiner is proud to provide care to all ages and all eye conditions.  His particular areas of interest include ocular disease, diabetes, scleral contact lens fitting, contact lenses, and surgical co-management.   

Dr. Heiner is a member of the American Optometric Association and Idaho Optometric Physicians.

In his spare time Dr. Heiner enjoys spending time with his wife and their 5 children. He enjoys sports, outdoor activities, gardening, church activities, and participates in a local karate class with his boys. 

Dr. Heiner is proud to serve Caldwell and the surrounding communities.
